Summer Life

Summer is over halfway through July and it has been HOT.  Fire season is now on in California.  A lighting storm came through close to 2 pm on Saturday 6/23 and our power went out soon after.  It came back on Sunday 6/24 mid-morning. It was out for around 20 hours.  Hubby did get the generator out and got it working late on Saturday.  Power did come back on Sunday during service.  On June 27 my hubby started working the Bain Fire in Fresno County. It was close enough that people in my community could see it. They officially say it is still determining how it started. It began around the time of the lightning storm. Jeff began working on the Basin Fire on 6/27.

July 4 was here before we knew it. The fireworks from the Parr's were very cool. Vacation Bible School was from July 8 - July 12.  I work every VBS I can as I was saved at one. This year was lots of fun with well-behaved kids. Due to the heat, everything was done inside.  Jeff came home on 7/11 which was 2 weeks working that fire with Team 11.  He is an alternate on two teams and that fire was with another team than his normal.  He had to take a few days off.  He was home for our anniversary and my birthday which was nice timing. He just left for another fire this time with his normal team.  He is at the Lake Fire in Santa Barbara County so I can not see him there.

He works during the summers but payment is delayed for months.  Waiting that long must be a California thing as it is a large state. With all the crazy summers I know that money will come in eventually. God is in control even if it feels like life is going crazy.  I am a Fire widow for the time he is gone.  Normally he is gone for two weeks but at times it is shorter than that due to when he gets to the fire and how what the containment is when he gets there. I pray that he is safe and there are no deaths at the fire.

God never changes humans do

The Bible talks about Moses finding a bush that would not burn up. Moses stopped to check out why. God spoke to him through the bush. God spoke to him through the bush and told him he was standing on holy ground. Moses was told to take off his shoes. God said He had seen what the Egyptians were doing to His people.  Moses asked who should I tell the people who sent me? God answered "I AM Who I AM" is what to tell the Israelites.  While going to Pharaoh God did many miracles through Moses showing God's power against the gods that the Egyptians worshiped. After those miracles, Pharaoh would not let the people go. God told Moses that the oldest son would be killed unless they put blood on the doorframe.  If there was no blood on the doorframe then the angle of death would kill the oldest son. In the morning those who did not have blood on the doorframe were distraught, weeping, and crying.  Finally, Pharough let the Israelites leave.  God closed the Nile so the Israelites could walk through it on dry ground.  As soon as the Jews crossed it God let the water flow.  The Egyptians gave chase when the ground was dry. The Egyptians were washed away when God released the water. That is one point that God showed His power to His people. The Jews continued going back to old habits often. Soon after they would remember that God took care of them before. They would return to the one and only God of the Universe.

That is still what we do even though it is so long ago. Maybe that is human nature.
